Since 2022, Art Anderlecht has invited audiences to discover the municipality from a different perspective, through its studios, independent spaces and artistic initiatives. On foot or by bike, the parcours traces a human-scale map of an ecosystem shaped by places, encounters, friendships and collaborations.
Alongside Brussels’ art week, Art Anderlecht offers a step aside, another way of moving through the city, looking and meeting. Openings, workshops, guided tours and evening events punctuate the parcours, offering opportunities to discover what is being created here.
For this new edition, we have chosen to look at what lies between places, between projects, between what is shown and what makes it possible for them to exist. The connections that are woven, the resources we share, the spaces we open up, and the collaborations that bring projects to life. Because an art scene is built not only through its exhibitions, but also through everything that comes before, accompanies and extends them.
This attention to connections runs throughout this year’s programme, where artistic practices, stories, knowledge and resources meet and circulate, from collective making to explorations of the territory.
These projects do not tell a single story, but reveal a shared intuition, what matters is not always where we are looking. Some practices are fleeting, some spaces exist only for the duration of an event, some stories remain buried, and some connections only become visible when they are activated.
This is where we locate the commons, in the gestures that sustain a community: welcoming, collaborating, caring. Connections that can sometimes be discreet or precarious, but are essential to artistic life. And if the commons help us hold things together, they also give us reasons to celebrate. The party, the opening, the encounter or the evening gathering are all integral to this collective life: they create connections, produce memories and make us want to remain together.
Our role as curators and facilitators is to accompany these circulations, connect the stories and make visible the relationships that run through these places. Art Anderlecht thus becomes more than an exhibition parcours: it is a journey through a territory and its many stories, its visible and invisible spaces, its established and fleeting uses. We invite you to discover what is being made in Anderlecht, to get a little lost along its less-travelled paths, and above all, to celebrate those who, together, make it possible.

Big Appple closes Guess Mine Is Not The First Heart Broken, an exhibition by Athen Kardashian and Nina Mhach Durban. Borrowing its title from a scene in Grease (1978), the exhibition reimagines elements of the film through sculptures, objects and popular archives, exploring memory, teenage culture and the emotional narratives embedded in everyday materials.

Depuis 2022, Art Anderlecht invite à découvrir la commune autrement, à travers ses ateliers, ses espaces indépendants et ses initiatives artistiques. À pied ou à vélo, le parcours dessine une cartographie à taille humaine d’un écosystème fait de lieux, de rencontres, d’amitiés et de collaborations.
En parallèle de la semaine de l’art bruxelloise, Art Anderlecht propose un pas de côté, une autre manière de circuler, de regarder et de se rencontrer. Vernissages, workshops, visites guidées et soirées ponctuent le parcours, autant d’occasions de découvrir ce qui se construit ici.
Pour cette nouvelle édition, nous choisissons de regarder ce qui se trouve entre les lieux et les projets, les liens qui se tissent, les ressources que l’on partage, les espaces que l’on ouvre et les collaborations qui les font exister. Cette attention aux liens traverse la programmation de cette année, où pratiques artistiques, récits, savoirs et ressources se rencontrent et circulent, de la fabrication collective à l’exploration du territoire.
C’est là que nous situons les communs, dans les gestes qui font vivre un milieu : accueillir, collaborer, prendre soin. Des liens parfois discrets ou précaires, mais essentiels à la vie artistique. Et si les communs permettent de tenir, ils permettent aussi de se réjouir. La fête, le vernissage et la rencontre créent du lien, produisent de la mémoire et donnent envie de rester ensemble.
Notre rôle de curatrices et facilitatrices est d’accompagner ces circulations, de relier les récits et de rendre visibles les relations qui traversent les lieux. Art Anderlecht devient ainsi une traversée d’un territoire et de ses histoires, visibles et invisibles. Une invitation à découvrir ce qui se fabrique ici et à célébrer celles et ceux qui, ensemble, le rendent possible.

Sinds 2022 nodigt Art Anderlecht uit om de gemeente op een andere manier te ontdekken, via ateliers, onafhankelijke plekken en artistieke initiatieven. Te voet of met de fiets tekent het parcours een menselijke maatkaart van een ecosysteem dat bestaat uit plekken, ontmoetingen, vriendschappen en samenwerkingen.
Parallel aan de Brusselse kunstweek biedt Art Anderlecht een zijstap, een andere manier om zich te verplaatsen, te kijken en elkaar te ontmoeten. Vernissages, workshops, rondleidingen en avonden vormen de etappes van het parcours en bieden telkens een gelegenheid om te ontdekken wat hier wordt opgebouwd.
Voor deze nieuwe editie kiezen we ervoor te kijken naar wat zich tussen de plekken en projecten bevindt: de verbindingen die ontstaan, de middelen die we delen, de ruimtes die we openstellen en de samenwerkingen die dit alles mogelijk maken. Deze aandacht voor verbindingen loopt als een rode draad door het programma van dit jaar, waarin artistieke praktijken, verhalen, kennis en middelen elkaar ontmoeten en circuleren, van collectief maken tot het verkennen van het grondgebied.
Daar situeren we de commons: in de gebaren die een omgeving levend houden, verwelkomen, samenwerking mogelijk maken en zorg dragen voor elkaar. Verbindingen die soms subtiel of precair zijn, maar essentieel voor het artistieke leven. En als de commons ons in staat stellen om samen stand te houden, bieden ze ons ook redenen om te vieren. Feesten, vernissages en ontmoetingen creëren verbindingen, bouwen herinneringen op en geven ons zin om samen te blijven.
Onze rol als curatoren en facilitatoren bestaat erin deze circulaties te begeleiden, verhalen met elkaar te verbinden en de relaties die tussen de verschillende plekken lopen zichtbaar te maken. Zo wordt Art Anderlecht een tocht door een gebied en zijn zichtbare en onzichtbare geschiedenissen. Een uitnodiging om te ontdekken wat hier wordt gemaakt en om diegenen te vieren die het, samen, mogelijk maken.

Big Appple sluit Guess Mine Is Not The First Heart Broken af, een tentoonstelling van Athen Kardashian en Nina Mhach Durban. De tentoonstelling ontleent haar titel aan een scène uit Grease (1978) en herinterpreteert bepaalde elementen uit de film aan de hand van sculpturen, objecten en populaire archieven. Daarbij worden thema’s als herinnering, jeugdcultuur en emotionele verhalen die in alledaagse materialen besloten liggen, verkend.
Je kunt de tentoonstelling zelfstandig bezoeken. Je hoeft enkel de sleutels op te halen bij restaurant In Den Appelboom, op enkele minuten wandelen.

Gilbard opent Gilbard.e.s & friends by Gilbard.e.s and friends, een collectieve “no-show” die vrienden, vriendinnen en medewerkers samenbrengt rond hergebruik van materialen, ecologie, alternatieve economieën en collectief creëren. Via kunst, design, ambacht en architectuur onderzoekt het project nieuwe vormen van uitwisseling, productie en samen maken.

Janitor presenteert een duotentoonstelling van Lukas De Ryck en Matthias Odin. De tekeningen van De Ryck ontstaan vanuit observatie, vertaling en projectie, terwijl Odin gelijkaardige vragen verkent via de fysieke ontmoeting tussen lichaam, objecten en ruimte. Hun werken bewegen zich tussen twee- en driedimensionaliteit en verschuiven vertrouwde vormen en perspectieven, waardoor ze uitnodigen tot een meer fysieke en intuïtieve manier van kijken.

Architecten Joris Kerremans en Nora Van Severen presenteren vierenveertig tekeningen in de voormalige rustruimte van de straatvegers, gelegen in het recreatiepaviljoen voor ouderen van de tuinwijk Moortebeek. Deze tentoonstelling is de eerste presentatie van wat, zo hopen we, ooit de coöperatieve galerie L’Effort zal worden.

Ontdek de resultaten van de OSP Plotterstation-workshops tijdens een interactieve avond van collectief experiment. Bezoekers worden uitgenodigd om de plotter te gebruiken om liefdesbrieven, geïllustreerde belastingformulieren, machinaal getekende tekeningen en andere prints te maken die ze mee naar huis kunnen nemen.

Ga samen met het BARN-team op Artist-Run Tour en ontdek Gilbard, Janitor en Komplot, met bijzondere aandacht voor de lopende tentoonstellingen. Elke rondleiding duurt ongeveer 45 minuten en biedt de mogelijkheid om de mensen achter deze initiatieven te ontmoeten, hun tentoonstellingen te ontdekken en meer te leren over de samenwerkingsmodellen, uitdagingen en waarden die de Brusselse artist-run-scene vormgeven.
Na de rondleidingen organiseert BARN bij Komplot een Brussels Artist-Run Hangout: een gezellig moment om de gesprekken verder te zetten, andere mensen uit de scene te ontmoeten en kennis te maken met het BARN-team.

Komplot presenteert 𝑠̶𝑢̶𝑗̶𝑒̶𝑡̶, een solotentoonstelling van The LetterS̷ pace Department. De tentoonstelling vertrekt vanuit achterlatingsfiches die bewaard worden in de archieven van het Brusselse OCMW/CPAS en brengt werken van naaste vrienden en artistieke verwanten samen. Zo verkent ze scheiding, subjectiviteit en de mogelijkheid tot herverbinding aan de hand van fragmenten, stemmen en manieren van spreken.

Eye Floaters brengt Amber Wynants, Luna Lambert, Bart Cabry, Pierre Emile Gerard, Louis Lallier en Sohel Bourgeau samen. Hun praktijken zijn geworteld in aandachtige, nauwgezette en soms waakzame gebaren. Bezoekers worden uitgenodigd om door de ruimtes van galerie Bardaf te dwalen op zoek naar zwevende vormen, ergens tussen sereniteit en vervreemding.

Werkplaats Walter opent zijn ateliers voor een dag vol artistieke ontmoetingen. Van 14:00 tot 18:00 kun je de werkruimtes van de kunstenaars ontdekken, makers ontmoeten en deelnemen aan een collectieve tekeninstallatie van Dear Pigs en Renée Pevernagie. Van 15:00 tot 18:00 stelt een open praktijk de vraag: hoe kunnen beeldende kunsten de improvisatiemuziek inspireren, en omgekeerd? De dag eindigt met een avond Improv & Sketch van 19:00 tot 22:00.
